On the morning of October 14 local time, Jia Bingjun led the research team of the Corporation to hold a joint meeting on project promotion with relevant ministries, commissions and cooperative enterprises, such as Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Technology and Science, Ministry of Commerce,Trade?and Industry, Ministry of Presidential Delivery Unit, National Development Agency, National Social Security Fund and ZESCO Limited of Zambia. Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges on accelerating project promotion and implementing government-enterprise coordination mechanism, and signed two memorandums of cooperation.

Joint Meeting?on Project Promotion

The Minister of Energy, Hon. Malozo Chikote, MP., said he was very pleased to meet with China Datang team in Zambia. He said that Zambia is facing great challenges in energy development. As one of the super-large global energy and power groups, China Datang will surely provide more excellent energy solutions for Zambia.?The Ministry of Energy of Zambia attaches great importance to the cooperation with China Datang, and is willing to provide comprehensive support for the promotion and expansion of practical cooperation of China Datang's projects in Zambia, and hopes that China Datang will give full play to its industrial development advantages, accelerate the implementation of cooperation project achievements and better benefit the economic development of Zambia.

The Minister of Technology and Science, Hon. Felix Mutati, MP., welcomed the arrival of China Datang team and thanked Datang for its quick response to Itezhi-tezhi?Project. He pointed out that Zambian ZESCO Limited has signed a 220MW Memorandum of Cooperation with China Datang, and that the Memorandum of Cooperation on 1GW Project and Science and Technology R&D Center will be signed today. He hopes that the cooperation with China Datang can be promoted practically and efficiently.?At present, Zambia is in the process of comprehensive reform, and a business environment for encouraging foreign investment has been comprehensively built, and an open and inclusive market has been formed. He hopes that China Datang will increase and accelerate the pace of development in Zambia and promote the rapid development of green energy and scientific and technological innovation in Zambia.

Jia Bingjun conveyed the greetings of Chairman Zou Lei of the Corporation to the Minister of Energy, Minister of Technology and Science, Ministry of Presidential Delivery Unit and ZESCO Limited of Zambia, and introduced the overall situation of China Datang Corporation and its international business development, as well as the project progress in Zambia. He said that China and Zambia have a long history of friendship and fruitful cooperation between China and Zambia. China Datang will earnestly implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, carry out the “Ten Partnership Actions for China-Africa Cooperation in Promoting Modernization”?and accelerate the implementation of the “Four Actions”. Signing of Memorandum of Cooperation

At the joint meeting, under the joint witness of Hon. Felix Mutati, MP., Minister of Technology and Science, and Vickson Ncube, Board Chairperson of ZESCO Limited, China Datang Overseas Investment?Co.,Ltd.?signed the?Memorandum of Understanding on 1GW Photovoltaic Project?and the Memorandum of Understanding on Energy Technology Innovation Center?with Zambia ZESCO Limited, laying a solid foundation for further strengthening the energy and power cooperation between the two sides, promoting collaborative innovation and resource sharing.

Talks and Exchanges

On he afternoon of October 14 local time, Jia Bingjun and his delegation held talks with Victor B. Mapani, Managing Director, at the headquarter of Zambia ZESCO Limited.

Both parties conducted in-depth and detailed communication on technical, commercial, legal, financial, tax and other professional issues of Itezhi-tezhi??Project, and reached an agreement on the establishment of a joint working group for each specialty. Jia Bingjun said that China Datang attaches great importance to the cooperation with Zambia ZESCO Limited and hopes that both parties will make joint efforts to accelerate the implementation of specific issues and promote the high-standard implementation of the project as soon as possible. Victor B. Mapani said that Zambia ZESCO Limited will respond to the list of relevant issues as soon as possible and help coordinate various government agencies to accelerate the project and set an example for Sino-Zambian energy and power cooperation.
