On October 27, the Bureau of International Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce sent a letter of commendation to China Datang Overseas Power Operating Co.,Ltd, expressing gratitudefor its contribution to the Sao Tome and Principe project.

The third phase of the power technical assistance project in Sao Tome and Principe, which is currently in the stay period, was completed on October 7, 2021. During the execution of the project, members of the expert team of the project office overcame the adverse effects of COVID-19 pandemic and completed the major overhaul, the restoration of Unit 1, material procurement, personnel training and document preparation.

Unit1 has been shut down continuously since the main shaft was worn on May 22, 2018. The project office arranged in advance, organized carefully, and actively purchased the repair spare parts of Unit 1, and carried out the restoration overhaul of Unit 1 as scheduled on July 19, 2021. After a two-month and 14-day overhaul period, Unit 1 was successfully connected to the grid on October 2, 2021, after 1229 days of outage. On October 4, 100% full load test and 105% overload test were successfully completed with excellent performance test indicators. On October 8, the unit completed the 72-hour trial operation and the overhaul work was successfully completed.

The Project Office overcame difficulties and completed the project on time with quality and quantity. Sao Tome National Hydropower Company highly praised the achivements and sent a letter of thanks to the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Sao Tome and Principe, thanking China Datang for its active contribution to solving the power supply shortage in Sao Tome. The International Economic Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce also sent a letter of commendation, appreciating the company and its personnel for what has been done and expressing the hope that China Datang will continue to participate in the implementation of the Sao Tome and Principe project, making contributions to the friendly cooperation between China and Sao Tome and Principe.
